Handbound book of my research, illustration, and writing
My undergraduate senior thesis project, Supernatural Upstate (Curio Collection), was inspired by the urban legends and strange historical accounts unique to upstate New York.
Through design concepts for haunted antiques, atmospheric environment illustrations, and a series of paintings centered around specific narratives I created a visual world that brings these stories together. The artwork, research, and writing for this project were presented together in a single hand-bound book. The completed work explores the intersection of local history and mythology from the perspective of a hermit cryptid character who sustains themselves through the hoarding of artifacts.
